Grandparents had simple pre-authorized names in the past, so to speak. They were regional, ethnic, familial, religious.
Not so today.
Today it is any name goes! Some people let their grandchildren decide what to call them. These days there are a variety of interesting names, which sometimes vary with the grandchild’s ability to pronounce sounds. Other times the grandparents decide and stick with a particular name. It makes life interesting.
